Software Developer - Java/Big Data

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Senior Software Developer (Big Data/Java) to join the Risk and Finance IT team responsible for developing/ maintaining global in-house applications for project in a leading bank.

Mandatory Skill-set

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology and related discipline;
• Must have 8 years of experience in Software development and 3 years in Java/J2EE development;
• Must have hands on experience with Big data technologies and data processing technology such as Spark streaming and Spark;
• Must have hands on experience with messaging systems Such as Kafka, Flume or ActiveMQ, MQSeries or RabbitMQ;
• Knowledge on Hadoop (preferably Hortonworks distribution) - HDFS, HBase, Hive, ORC/Parquet;
• Skilled in Maven/SBT/Ant, UML, REST APIs, CI/CD (Jenkins/TeamCity), Git/SVN, JUnit, and JIRA/QC;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Skill-set

• Experience in solution design using design patterns and anti-pattern awareness;
• Familiarity with tools such as Phoenix, Elastic Search, Sqoop, Stream Sets;
• Basic understanding of finance and investment banking concepts.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design studies and collaborate with infrastructure, big data experts, and business analysts;
• Document and develop proposed solutions aligned with CI/CD practices;
• Conduct code reviews and mentor team members on best practices;
• Report project progress to managers and escalate technical risks as needed;
• Research, design, and develop new software components and solutions;
• Analyze user requirements and develop software to meet business needs;
• Enhance and maintain existing software, ensuring quality and performance;
• Work with other engineers to integrate software and hardware systems;
• Drive non-functional aspects such as test tooling, mocking, production monitoring, and load testing.
