Senior Business Analyst - Mobile App

The Opportunity

Our client—an enterprise-scale organisation based in Melbourne’s CBD—is undertaking a major mobile app implementation and is seeking an experienced Business Analyst for an initial three-month engagement. You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of a high-visibility mobile product used by thousands of customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyse, and document business and technical requirements for a customer-facing mobile application (iOS/Android).
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers and UX/UI Designers to refine and validate app features and user experiences.
• Analyse and interpret API documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI) to confirm feasibility and integration needs.
• Map end-to-end user journey flows, identifying system touchpoints, business rules, and edge cases.
• Translate business and user requirements into clear user stories with acceptance criteria, supporting sprint planning and backlog grooming.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies and cross-functional workshops with stakeholders, designers, developers, and testers.
• Ensure alignment between design intent and technical implementation during design handovers to engineering.
• Support UAT cycles, change management activities, and documentation efforts to ensure smooth delivery and handover.
• Validate developed features against business needs and support resolution of gaps between design, business expectations, and backend capabilities.
  
  

About You

• Multiple years of experience as a Business Analyst in IT projects, with at least 2 years focused on mobile app or web delivery.
• Proven experience working on mobile application projects in your last 2–3 roles is essential.
• Strong Agile delivery background (Scrum), with hands-on experience using Jira and Confluence.
• Comfortable working with APIs (REST/JSON), reading Swagger/OpenAPI specs, and understanding backend integration constraints.
• Strong understanding of mobile UX and how backend services drive app functionality.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement, documentation, and facilitation skills across business and technical teams.
