Overview:

We’re looking for an experienced PHP Developer to join our client’s team on a 3-month contract, supporting a Laravel-based portal that integrates with their NetSuite ERP/CRM system and various AWS services. You’ll be a self-sufficient engineer who thrives in client-facing settings, can work autonomously, and is confident communicating with external tech teams.

This is a remote role requiring strong backend development skills, good on-prem Linux experience, and the ability to balance new feature delivery with system improvements and bug fixing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of features and small projects, from development to delivery.
• Act as a key point of contact with client and third-party tech teams, managing communications professionally.
• Work independently in a Kanban-driven environment, balancing new work with reactive bug fixes.
• Maintain and improve legacy/custom PHP systems, even with limited documentation.
• Proactively identify and implement opportunities for improvement.
• Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code following best practices.
• Contribute to a culture of collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor teammates on technical and client-handling best practices.

• Backend: PHP 7/8, Laravel
• Testing: PHPUnit, PHPStan
• DevOps: Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines
• Database: MySQL
• Infrastructure: On-prem Linux, AWS
• APIs: SOAP, REST
• Other: NetSuite ERP/CRM

Requirements/experience:

• Proven PHP Developer with Laravel experience
• Strong on-prem Linux experience for web application development and deployment
• Solid experience with AWS, especially pulling and integrating data from services
• SOAP API integration experience
• Experience working in a remote, client-facing role – ideally within an agency or consultancy
• Confident communicating with external technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
• Solid understanding of automated testing practices (PHPUnit)
• Competence with Docker, Git, and CI/CD workflows
• Strong understanding of MySQL and relational database performance
• Familiarity with Kanban-style workflows and balancing new feature and support work
• Able to work independently, take ownership, and mentor others

Desirable experience:

• Exposure to NetSuite ERP/CRM integrations
• Frontend development experience – particularly with Vue.js
• Experience working with organically grown or legacy PHP systems
