Senior Front End Developer

• Contract – 12 months, 2x extensions
• Public Sector
• Hybrid working model, Dublin 1
• Occasional travel may be required to Athlone or Blanchardstown.

Role Summary:

• The successful candidate will work as part of a mixed development team under the direction of a departmental team leader. The primary objective will be the modernisation of existing presentation layers (currently JSP-based) to React.js front-end interfaces for critical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the front-end modernisation of IT systems from JSPs to React.js
• Develop and maintain scalable, reusable, and efficient codebases
• Ensure interfaces meet web accessibility and mobile optimisation standards
• Perform frontend unit testing and quality assurance
• Conduct skills transfer and mentoring with department staff
• Collaborate with back-end developers, designers, and QA teams
• Use tools such as Azure DevOps for version control and task tracking
• Work in an Agile delivery environment

Requirements:

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience as a front-end developer
• Strong experience with React.js workflows (Redux, Flux)
• Material UI (MUI) and JXS
• JavaScript (including ES6), HTML, CSS
• Node.js and NPM
• Babel, Webpack
• Experience with Frontend Unit Testing
• Familiarity with MVC frameworks
• Integration with Java 8+, Spring Boot (v2.6), and Microservices
• Web accessibility and optimisation (including Google Lighthouse)
• Experience with mobile/screen optimisation
• Experience working in an Agile development environment
• Use of Azure DevOps
