Our client is a leading European space systems integrator specializing in microsatellite platforms and satellite-based services. With over 20 years of experience, it operates in a dynamic, multicultural environment focused on innovation and technical excellence. In order to reinforce its team, our client is looking for their Head of Software and Data Engineering. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for managing the software team, delivering high-quality embedded software and data products, and shaping the company’s software strategy across current and future space programs.

Position

• You lead the Software and Data department at both technical and disciplinary levels.
• You ensure the successful delivery of software and data products across satellite and component projects.
• You manage internal communication, resource allocation, and development planning within your team.
• You take ownership of risk identification and mitigation in coordination with engineering and project teams.
• You actively contribute to projects, including during peak demand or technical challenges.
• You support proposal preparation, taking technical and financial responsibility for software/data aspects.
• You refine and drive the software and data architecture roadmap in line with company strategy.
• You promote the adoption of engineering standards, methodologies, and quality practices.
• You ensure alignment of software processes with the company’s top-level engineering framework.
• You report to the executive level and collaborate across engineering disciplines.

Profile

• You have 10+ years of experience in embedded software and data development, ideally in the space sector.
• You hold a university degree in software engineering or a related technical field.
• You are an expert in embedded systems, C programming (C++, Java a plus), RTOS, and low-level drivers.
• You are experienced with modeling tools and standards (UML, SysML), especially in aerospace contexts.
• You have hands-on knowledge of simulators, ground software, mass memory, and safety-critical systems.
• You bring proven leadership experience in managing technical teams and departments.
• You are skilled in project management, delivering on time and within budget.
• You are capable of presenting complex solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• You are familiar with cloud technologies and AI applications relevant to software and data domains.
• You are a self-driven team player, fluent in English, and eligible to work in the EU.
