Position Description
The selected candidate will contribute to the projects “CRÊPE: Cis-regulatory elements for prostate carcinogenesis”, which is funded through the joint postdoctoral scheme of NCMM, and “DiSC-Seq2.0: Understanding metastatic potential and biology of prostate cancer at the single cell level”, which is funded by the Norwegian Cancer Society. The candidate will study gene expression deregulation promoting prostate cancer using in house large-scale CRISPRi screening in vitro and clinical gene expression patterns derived from single cell data associated with patients outcome. The postdoctoral fellow will be co-supervised by Drs. Alfonso Urbanucci, Anthony Mathelier, and Roza Berhanu Lemma.Requirements
The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
  • Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field obtained in the last 5 years or soon to be obtained.
  • Possess strong programming skills.
  • Experience in machine learning.
  • Experience with computational genomics data analysis.
  • At least one first author manuscript published or accepted in an international peer-reviewed journal at the time of application (exception can be made for 1st authorship in a preprint on a relevant topic).
  • Documented ability to communicate science.
  • Ability to collaborate with researchers from different fields and at different career stages.
  • Willingness to be part of a team to share knowledge and skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Advantageous skills
  • Understanding of gene transcription regulation.
  • Basic understanding of cancer development and progression in the context of different omics levels.
  • Understanding of statistical analysis in biomarker discovery.
  • Track record of developing reproducible computational pipelines.
  • Experience with CRISPRi screening data analysis.
  • Experience with single cell data analysis.
  • Experience in deep learning.
