General Manager

Thermory is the world's largest producer of thermally modified wood and sauna materials. VMS Timber is a technologically advanced sawmill specializing in the processing of aspen and alder logs, offering high-quality timber to both local and international markets. We use environmentally friendly, innovative technologies in wood processing, and our highly qualified team of 70 employees ensures the best possible results – from round logs to finished timber. The raw materials used in production are carefully selected and prepared on site, ensuring consistent quality and a reliable supply chain. Since 2021, VMS Timber has been part of Thermory Group. 

Your Responsibilities:

• Lead, supervise, and motivate the team
• Steer the company’s operations towards achieving the goals set by the group
• Develop the company’s strategy and activity plan
• Represent the company in dealings with partners
• Participate in budget preparation and monitor its execution
• Ensure the implementation of planned costs and resource usage
• Analyze work efficiency and resource usage indicators
• Ensure compliance with occupational safety, fire safety, and environmental regulations according to the legislation of the Republic of Latvia

We Expect From You:

• Higher education (management/economics)
• At least 5 years of experience in process organization and management
• Knowledge and experience in human resource management and motivation
• We value hands-on leadership and a continuous improvement mindset.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills and understanding of performance monitoring mechanisms
• Excellent Latvian and English language skills (English is needed for communication with the group’s team)
• Knowledge and experience in applying LEAN in production processes is an advantage.
