hackajob is collaborating with Tesco to connect them with exceptional tech professionals for this role.

Android Developer to join our Mobile App Squad at Tesco Mobile Engineering.

This is a hands-on role where you'll help shape the future of our Android app, used by over 5 million customers, working in a collaborative, agile team alongside iOS devs, QA, Product, and BA.

You Will Be Asked To

  • Design, develop, and maintain Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
  • Build new features and custom functionality that enhance the customer experience
  • Ensure performance, quality, and responsiveness of the app
  • Contribute to code reviews, mentor junior devs, and share knowledge across the team

Ideally You'll Have

  • 5+ years of hands-on Android development experience
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, architecture patterns (MVVM, MVP), and Git
  • Familiarity with push notifications, offline storage, and performance tuning
  • A collaborative way of working and strong problem-solving skills

This is a permanent, hybrid role (2 days per week in office) based in either Manchester or Slough.
