IT Governance and Control Specialist (Banking)
Our client in the banking sector is seeking an experienced IT Governance and Control Specialist (AVP) to oversee and strengthen the governance and quality assurance frameworks across technology functions. This role is critical in ensuring that IT systems and operations are aligned with internal standards and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with regional IT quality teams to refine and enhance the overall IT governance and control frameworks.
- Design, implement, and maintain policies, processes, and tools that support IT quality assurance and control across multiple business units.
- Perform regular compliance checks to assess the effectiveness of controls in areas such as IT project management, cybersecurity, and operations.
- Prepare detailed reports on compliance assessments, including identifying control gaps and recommending remediation actions.
- Maintain comprehensive checklists and documentation to ensure adherence to regulatory and internal procedural standards.
- Support system risk assessments in collaboration with IT owners to ensure consistent application of governance policies.
- Drive standardization of IT-related processes and documentation across regional branches.
- Provide guidance and oversight to technology teams to ensure consistent compliance with governance frameworks.
- Lead initiatives to digitize governance processes for enhanced efficiency and oversight.
- Support internal and external audits related to IT governance and control areas.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in IT quality assurance, control, or governance, preferably in a financial services environment.
- Solid understanding of IT governance frameworks, compliance standards, and control practices.
- Demonstrated experience conducting IT compliance assessments and authoring detailed reports.
- Knowledge of key IT domains such as project management, security, and operations.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements and control frameworks.
- Strong analytical thinking with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage tasks independently while also contributing to collaborative team efforts.
- Professional certifications such as CISA, CISSP, or ITIL are advantageous.
