Frontend Software Engineer - Product

Perplexity is looking for an experienced product-focused Frontend Engineer to join our small team revolutionizing the way people search and interact with the internet. You will be responsible for building the interface that powers the future of curiosity. We use TypeScript, React, Tailwind CSS, and Next.JS on the frontend. The ideal candidate should be familiar with these technologies at scale. Responsibilities include developing new user interfaces for Perplexity's evolving technologies & products, working with and improving the components that form the foundation of Perplexity's frontend, iterating closely with design to prototype, implement, and polish new features & enhancements, optimizing streaming, rendering, and interaction performance, and creating accessible elements and user experiences. Qualifications include experience with designing & shipping user-facing features in web applications, understanding state abstractions in large-scale codebases, familiarity with the quirks and qualities of CSS, knowledge about design patterns & common user-experience flows, passion for prototyping and creating accessible experiences, ability to take ownership and work with a small, agile team, attention to detail and empathy, 4+ years of industry experience, and references of prior work in shipped web applications.
