Level 2 (L2) Operations Engineer

General Job Description

We are seeking L2 Operations Engineers with a solid background in ELV (Extra Low Voltage) systems and hands-on experience in IT infrastructure and smart city platforms. The role requires strong technical support capabilities across physical security, building automation, and IT systems, along with proactive monitoring and incident response in a mission-critical operations environment.

This is a Full-Time / Contract-based role, reporting to the Smart City Operations Project Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

ELV & Smart City Platform Support:

Provide L2 technical support for ELV systems including:

CCTV (IP Cameras, NVRs, Video Management Systems)
Access Control (Card Readers, Controllers, Turnstiles)
Public Address and Voice Evacuation Systems
Fire Alarm Systems (FACP, Detectors, Interface Modules)
BMS (HVAC, Lighting Control, Energy Monitoring)
Parking Management, Digital Signage, and IoT devices

Respond to platform alerts and perform first-level diagnostics of ELV faults.
Troubleshoot ELV equipment failures such as device disconnections, power/network issues, or hardware malfunctions.
Verify integration between ELV systems and central platforms using protocols like API/SDK, BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, or ONVIF.

Incident Management

Serve as first responder for ELV and smart city platform incidents.
Register and manage incident tickets using ITSM tools with proper categorization and prioritization.
Troubleshoot and resolve minor faults (e.g., offline camera, reader issues).
Escalate complex issues to L3 support or ELV vendors.

System Monitoring & Preventive Maintenance

Monitor system health using dashboards, NVR consoles, BMS terminals, and specialized monitoring tools.
Conduct regular device health checks (camera streams, access logs, fire panel statuses, etc.).
Support preventive maintenance efforts, coordinate with technicians, and verify recovery post-maintenance.

Communication & Coordination

Coordinate with vendors, MEP contractors, ELV maintenance teams, and IT infrastructure support.
Participate in shift handovers and daily control room briefings.
Provide updates to management and client teams on incidents and system performance.

Skills & Abilities

Strong knowledge of ELV systems architecture, configuration, and diagnostics.
Proficient in IP-based systems and network-connected ELV devices.
Familiarity with integration protocols such as KNX, BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, OPC.
Excellent communication and a customer-focused support approach.
Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
Strong coordination and teamwork in multi-vendor environments.

Technical Skills

Hands-on experience with:

Video Management Systems: Milestone, Genetec, Hikvision
Access Control: Lenel, Honeywell, HID, Gallagher
BMS: Siemens Desigo, Honeywell EBI, Tridium
Fire Alarm Systems: Notifier, Siemens Cerberus, Simplex
IT Systems: Windows Server, Linux, IP networking (VLANs, routing), virtualization
Use of health monitoring dashboards and tools
Structured cabling, PoE troubleshooting, and basic network diagnostics

Added Advantage

Basic scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell) or use of automation/testing tools
Experience working in command-and-control centers
Awareness of cybersecurity principles in ELV/OT environments

POTENTIAL BACKGROUND

Diploma or Bachelor’s in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or IT
5–7 years of relevant experience in ELV operations, commissioning, or smart infrastructure
Previous involvement in large-scale projects (smart cities, airports, campuses, industrial zones)
ITIL Foundation certification or structured ITSM environment experience

Ticketing Systems: Jira, ServiceNow, FreshService, BMC Remedy
Monitoring Tools: PRTG, Zabbix, SolarWinds, VMS dashboards
ELV Tools: CCTV/NVR consoles, access control configuration tools, BMS terminals
Network Tools: Putty, WinSCP, ping/traceroute, IP scanner, Veeam
