Software Engineer (Java/Scala)

Java Software Engineer – 6-Month Contract – Amsterdam (Hybrid) – Up to €100 per hour 🚀

We’re looking for a Java Software Engineer to join a high-impact, cloud migration project with a leading global technology organisation based in Amsterdam.

💼 Contract: 6 months initial term
📍 Location: Amsterdam (Hybrid)
💰 Rate: Up to €100 per hour
🗓️ Start Date: ASAP (target 9 June 2025)

About the Role: As a Software Engineer II, you’ll play a key role in building and maintaining large-scale, high-performance software solutions within a PCI DSS regulated environment. You will work as part of a dynamic team responsible for migrating credit card storage systems from bare metal to AWS cloud infrastructure.

You’ll be expected to write high-quality, testable code, actively participate in design and implementation discussions, ensure application reliability, and contribute to improving the system architecture and development processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain scalable applications using Java (or Scala).
• Design, build, and deploy AWS-based solutions, with 5+ years AWS experience.
• Work with technologies such as Dropwizard, Apache Kafka, Hibernate, MySQL, Kubernetes, Grafana.
• Implement and monitor security best practices (CloudHSM, AWS KMS, IAM, VPC, WAF, API Gateway, CloudTrail, CloudWatch).
• Contribute to the migration of PCI DSS regulated services to AWS.
• Support production services, including on-call rotation if required.

Ideal Candidate:
✅ Strong Java development experience.
✅ AWS expert with at least 5 years of hands-on experience.
✅ Comfortable with cloud-native architecture and monitoring tools.
✅ Familiar with Dropwizard, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Grafana.
✅ Fintech background and experience with gen-AI coding tools (nice to have).
✅ Based in the Netherlands or able to work hybrid from Amsterdam.
