Senior Backend Software Engineer

We seek a Senior Backend Software Engineer with robust Quality Assurance experience to join our Cart & Checkout teams, bring new features to life, and support our products' move to modern architecture. You will work closely with the product owner, area architect, and your team members to clarify business needs and technical requirements and define how to support them best. In close collaboration with other teams, your team will introduce new features and improvements to the process to provide a better experience for more than 11 million of our customers!

At the Cart & Checkout team, our primary responsibility is to manage the process of customers purchasing products from our shops. This includes overseeing the addition of items to the shopping cart, collecting shipping and billing information, fraud prevention and remediation and other payment processes. We play a crucial role in the shopping process, as we handle the final steps of the shopping experience and ensure that orders are placed successfully.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with your team and Product Owner in an Agile environment, actively participating in solution investigation, estimation, planning, and cross-team alignment.
• Design, develop, and support scalable backend solutions using a microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
• Contribute to architectural and technical discussions, influencing decisions with your expertise.
• Ensure the quality of your team's application by integrating robust QA tooling and practices in partnership with the QA Center of Practice.
• Drive test automation efforts across all levels (unit, integration, end-to-end, performance), supporting a culture of continuous validation.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, reliable, and secure delivery of features.
• Deploy and manage cloud-native applications using Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and Terraform.
• Own the entire software development lifecycle — from discovery, development, and testing to deployment and maintenance.
• Collaborate through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing while handling incidents and reducing technical debt.
• Continuously grow your skills and stay current with modern technologies and practices.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of experience with Java 11+ and Spring framework.
• You can understand the architectural landscape and technically investigate and implement new features independently.
• Being responsible for the quality of the solution you deliver is natural for you.
• Strong experience in unit testing and Test-Driven Development.
• Strong experience with DevOps tools and practices (container orchestration, CI, monitoring and alerting, AWS & Kubernetes)
• Good English verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working within Agile practices and knowledge of Agile values & principles.
• Experience working with Microservices.
• Experience in the e-commerce domain.
• Ready to work with on-call duties - approximately 1 week on call every 8 weeks.
