DevOps & Cloud Engineer

MidChains is a virtual asset trading platform, aiming to democratize wealth exchange with transparency and regulation. Backed by world-class investors, we serve as a key access point for crypto products, linking global institutions to the MENA region.

This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role, responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously optimizing DevSecOps practices and cloud infrastructure—primarily on AWS—to ensure secure, scalable, and efficient software delivery. 

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in AWS with significant experience in payment systems integrated with banks and trading platforms. 

Grounds-up Day zero expertise in developing, deploying, and managing Infrastructure as Code is mandatory. Experience in designing, setting up, and managing fully automated CI/CD pipelines is mandatory. 

Note: We are looking for someone who is hands-on and can start as a 100% individual contributor.

Responsibilities

• Define, implement, and continuously improve the DevSecOps strategy to support rapid development and deployment of payment rails & integrations to trading solutions.
• Architect, build, and maintain robust AWS cloud infrastructure. ensuring IaC, automated CI/CD, high availability, security, and scalability for mission-critical financial systems.
• Oversee and enhance CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and security teams to streamline software deployment, monitoring, and incident response processes.
• Strong with AWS and Azure, including multi-region architectures. Also deep knowledge in VPN configuration, Keycloak, and SSO configuration. 
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and security best practices for payment and trading platforms.
• Optimize infrastructure performance and cost efficiency, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
• Manage and monitor production and non-production environments, including logging, alerting, and disaster recovery systems.
• Experience in designing and deploying user journey observability for a transaction lifecycle and proactive observability-based alerts is a significant plus.
• Drive the adoption of modern DevSecOps practices, including containerization, microservices, and serverless architectures.
• Deep understanding of networking, security, Linux, and system hardening.
• Comfortable with Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting, also JIRA and other project management tools.
• Oversee and execute regular backups to protect data and ensure disaster recovery readiness.
• Maintain IT systems, keeping them up-to-date, secure, and efficient.
• Document processes, configurations, and system changes to ensure knowledge continuity.
• JIRA/Confluence/Slack/SharePoint administration.
• Bonus: worked on edge AI, serverless, or real-time data ingestion.

Qualifications

• 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in DevSecOps.
• Deep technical expertise in AWS (EC2,EKS, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, VPC,
• CloudFormation, etc.) and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
• Strong background in Linux systems administration, networking, and security best practices
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, PagerDuty)
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and infrastructure as code.
• Programming/scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages
• Familiarity with blockchain operations and running blockchain nodes is a strong plus.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience in financial services, especially in crypto or blockchain environments.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards for financial platforms
• Exposure to multi-cloud environments (Google Cloud, Oracle) is advantageous.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Information Technology.
