Contract Opportunity: Data Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer – Energy Flexibility Focus
We're currently supporting a major player in the European energy market on a long-term data science project focused on implicit flexibility and system balancing.
This role is ideal for a Data Scientist with strong analytical and machine learning skills, preferably with prior exposure to the energy or electricity sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop advanced tracking methods to measure implicit reactions to price signals.
- Analyse relationships between renewable forecasts, pricing, market behaviour, and system imbalances.
- Build models to understand, predict, and assess flexibility within energy systems.
- Produce actionable insights for operational and strategic decisions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to support broader flexibility initiatives.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Data Scientist.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Python programming.
- Proficiency with statistical methods and machine learning models.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to convert business problems into quantitative analysis.
- Experience working with large datasets in a production environment.
- Understanding of electricity markets and energy systems is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Fluent in English; Dutch and/or French is a strong plus.
