Application System Engineer

We are looking for a skilled UNIX System Application Engineer to join Capitole for one of our major financial clients in Luxembourg. If you're experienced with AIX and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) in production-critical environments and passionate about infrastructure, systems, and stability — this one’s for you!

🤖 Responsibilities and Requirements:

• Deploy, configure, and maintain AIX LPARs and Red Hat Entreprise Linux servers (versions 7, 8, and 9).
• Support critical applications (banking, web, middleware) throughout their lifecycle.
• Manage version upgrades, system migrations, and patching activities.
• Implement and enforce security best practices (OS/app hardening, password rotation).
• Perform hands-on maintenance: file system management, backup configuration (Commvault), and monitoring setup (Nagios).
• Write and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
• Ensure full compliance with change management and internal procedures.
• Participate in infrastructure projects and contribute to system reliability and performance.

🛠️ Technical Requirements:

• Proven experience in AIX and/or RHEL administration in enterprise environments.
• Familiar with PowerVM/VIO (NPIV, SEA) and NIM management.
• Strong scripting abilities (e.g., shell, bash, Python).
• Solid grasp of security principles for operating systems and applications.
• Experience with virtualized environments, OpenShift, Oracle, WebSphere, and SWIFT systems is a plus.
• Ability to work autonomously, structure tasks, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
