Senior Backend Engineer - Mission Control

About The Role

Are you a backend engineer who thrives in real-time environments and loves building systems that support real people and operations? Join the Mission Control team at Instabee’s Oslo office and help shape the backbone of our operational excellence.

• Build, own, and operate backend services with full codebase responsibility
• Design and implement scalable data structures for complex logistics
• Engage in architecture discussions and steer product direction
• Collaborate with product and operations to solve real-time user needs
• Lead backend development from idea to deployment with high standards
• Continuously improve system performance, usability, and reliability
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative learning culture
  
  

Your future team

The Mission Control team is at the heart of live monitoring and incident response for Instabee operations. We ensure everything runs smoothly and directly impact KPIs like accuracy, delivery success, and cost. We interact with both our digital systems and physical world, seeing our code in action.

You’ll join a friendly and highly collaborative team: an Engineering Manager, four developers, a Product Manager, and a Principal Engineer. We share knowledge, support each other, and solve challenges together.

What We’re Looking For

• Several years of experience in backend development (we care more about what you’ve built than the exact number of years)
• Hands-on with Go, Kotlin, or Java
• Experience with relational databases
• Familiarity with AWS or GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, CI/CD
• Background in Computer Science or equivalent hands-on experience
• Strong communication skills in English

• Experience with event-driven systems
• Familiarity with React or Websockets (e.g. Pusher, SaaS streaming tools)
