IT Project Manager Specialist – Business Applications (Oil & Gas Only)

Role Overview

Seeking a seasoned IT Project Manager with proven experience in the Oil & Gas industry to lead critical business applications projects. The role demands end-to-end project ownership, deep domain knowledge, and the ability to manage high-value, enterprise-scale initiatives under strict governance and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Execution

• Lead full lifecycle delivery of multiple concurrent IT projects within Oil & Gas business units.
• Ensure scope, timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met in accordance with PMO processes.
• Enforce strict adherence to structured project methodologies and documentation standards.
  
  

Industry-Specific Business Analysis

• Work closely with business SMEs from exploration, production, supply chain, and downstream functions.
• Gather, validate, and translate complex Oil & Gas operational requirements into technical specifications.
• Develop functional designs aligned with Oil & Gas operational workflows and industry regulations.
  
  

Budget & Financial Control

• Manage project budgets ≥ USD 500K with full accountability for forecasting, tracking, and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with corporate financial controls and procurement processes.
  
  

Vendor & Contract Management

• Manage external vendors and contractors specific to Oil & Gas digital solutions and infrastructure.
• Lead RFPs, technical evaluations, contract negotiations, and SLA enforcement.
  
  

Risk & Compliance Management

• Identify and mitigate risks in operationally critical environments, ensuring business continuity.
• Implement information security controls aligned with industry best practices and audit requirements.
  
  

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with business leaders, engineers, and IT teams to align project goals with strategic objectives.
• Deliver clear, structured communication to senior stakeholders, steering committees, and auditors.
  
  

Governance & Reporting

• Maintain project documentation, phase gate records, and performance metrics on the enterprise PPM system.
• Comply fully with PMO frameworks, information security policies, and regulatory standards.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field. Postgraduate degree (MBA, MSc) is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum 10 years in IT, including 7+ years of direct Project Management experience within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Must have delivered at least two full-cycle IT projects ≥ USD 500K in Oil & Gas environments.
• Experience must include upstream, midstream, downstream, or corporate services functions.
• Certifications: PMP or PRINCE2 required. Agile/Scrum, Business Analysis, or Six Sigma certifications are preferred.
• Tools & Methodologies: Proficiency in EPM systems, MS Project, project financial management, and document control tools. Familiarity with Oil & Gas applications and platforms is essential.
