Automation Engineer

Shape the future of maritime automation

We are looking for a skilled Automation Engineer to join a highly innovative team developing advanced control systems for the global maritime industry. Here you will work with cutting-edge technologies, integrate hardware and software into robust solutions, and tackle complex engineering challenges that have real-world impact.

This is a 6-month assignment starting immediately or by mid-August, with strong potential for extension or permanent employment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain advanced control system architectures and documentation
• Program, test, and troubleshoot PLC systems using CoDeSys
• Integrate hardware and software components into reliable automation solutions
• Perform thorough testing and verification to meet performance and safety standards
• Provide technical support to customers and internal teams
• Lead and contribute to solving complex system-level challenges

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Software, or Automation Engineering
• Experience in designing electrical and automation systems
• Proficiency in CoDeSys and PLC programming
• Familiarity with variable speed drives and industrial communication protocols (CANopen, Profinet)
• Experience with ECAD tools such as EPLAN is a plus
• Previous maritime industry experience is advantageous
• Strong communication skills in English

Location & travel

Preferably Ulsteinvik or Ålesund, Norway (other Nordic locations may be considered). Availability for onsite work in Ulsteinvik during specific project phases and occasional travel to other sites is required.
