WSP Oman is currently seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to oversee construction activities on the Sohar Port Project. The successful candidate will act as the client’s on-site representative and will be responsible for ensuring that the contractor’s work is carried out in compliance with contract specifications, approved designs, and applicable standards and regulations.""

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary on-site representative for WSP, overseeing the day-to-day construction activities.
• Supervise and monitor contractor performance, ensuring quality control, safety compliance, and adherence to the project schedule.
• Review and approve contractor submissions including method statements, shop drawings, and material approvals.
• Coordinate with stakeholders including the client, contractors, local authorities, and utility providers.
• Conduct regular site inspections and lead construction progress meetings.
• Ensure the project is executed in line with contractual obligations and industry best practices.
• Provide technical guidance and support to site engineers, inspectors, and other project staff.
• Identify and manage risks, resolving issues as they arise to minimize impact on project delivery.
• Maintain accurate project records, including daily reports, inspection logs, and correspondence.
• Monitor and report on the overall progress of the works, providing updates to senior management and the client.
• Ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards are maintained throughout all project phases.
• Support the implementation of quality assurance and control systems.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction supervision, including experience as a Resident Engineer on port or large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of civil and marine engineering works, including dredging, quay walls, utilities, and infrastructure development.
• Proven experience in contract administration, site coordination, and quality management.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Fluency in English (Arabic is an advantage).
• Experience working in Oman or the GCC region is preferred.
• Membership in a recognized professional engineering body is an advantage.
