We're Looking for a Discord Developer!
About Quibble
Quibble is a growing tech company and a creative community for emerging book authors, talented artists and passionate readers. We provide editorial guidance, creative writing support, a curated reading app and an Author Fund that will reward authors with real income. Quibble is currently in open alpha, with full product launch scheduled for mid September, 2025.
About the Role
We’re looking for a self-driven Discord developer to join Quibble’s community staff team as a volunteer, with the potential to turn into a paid position down the line. This is a hands-on technical role focused on building scalable workflows and community infrastructure inside Discord. You’ll collaborate closely with our co-founder and CTO to turn ideas into functional Discord-native tools.
Responsibilities
* Build and maintain custom Discord bots or scripts
* Implement automations and integrations to streamline community flows (e.g. author onboarding, feedback loops, role syncs, event triggers, etc.)
* Collaborate on feature ideas to support the launch and growth of books inside the Quibble ecosystem
* Ensure uptime, security, and maintainability of all bot and automation features
* Document flows for handoff or future expansion by other team members
Requirements
* Proficiency in at least one scripting language commonly used with Discord bots (e.g., Python, JavaScript/Node.js)
* Experience using Discord’s API and libraries (e.g., discord.py, discord.js)
* Familiarity with basic webhooks and bot hosting solutions
* Strong sense of ownership and initiative. We’re a small team; you’ll lead this domain
* Understanding of Discord’s culture and what makes for a smooth, automated community UX
* Excellent communication skills - you’ll work asynchronously with a non-technical core team
Bonus Points
* Familiarity with community-focused Discord bots (Dyno, MEE6, Carl-bot, etc.)
* Comfort working with GitHub and version control
* Interest in book culture, writing communities, or publishing
