As Principal Infrastructure Officer, you’ll lead the planning, coordination and delivery of significant, high-profile building and maintenance projects that ensure our courts and facilities are safe, functional, and fit for purpose.

You’ll build strong partnerships across government agencies and stakeholders to deliver outcomes aligned with strategic priorities. You’ll provide expert advice to senior leaders, guiding them through complex challenges to achieve effective results.

This is a temporary 12-month opportunity with the possibility of extension - ideal for someone looking to make a meaningful impact in built infrastructure delivery.

Please note, this is not an IT role.

You'll lead the planning, coordination and delivery of major building and maintenance projects across the department's statewide built infrastructure portfolio. Your work will support the safety, functionality, and long-term sustainability of court and justice facilities across Queensland.

You will play a central role in managing complex projects end-to-end, working closely with stakeholders such as the Department of Housing and Public Works and QBuild to ensure delivery aligns with key priorities and government frameworks. You will also contribute to policy and system improvements, risk and performance management, and strategic property and facility planning.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Leading the design, procurement, and construction of significant building and maintenance projects as the client-side project manager
  • Building and maintaining strong partnerships with key delivery partners and stakeholders
  • Monitoring and reporting on project performance, budgets and milestones
  • Providing expert advice to senior leadership on risks, priorities, and property and facility needs
  • Supporting governance, risk management, and continuous improvement in built infrastructure delivery

How To Apply

  • Experience in leading the delivery of building projects in a team context, with proven success in achieving objectives and contributing to improved organisational performance.
  • Experience in planning and delivery of significant building and maintenance projects, within the context of a diverse, complex, geographically dispersed public sector organisational setting or similar private sector environment, using both internal resources and external service providers.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying contemporary building project and program management methodology, resource management techniques and analytical skills to monitor financial performance, identify risks, solve problems, and develop and implement innovative operational solutions.
  • Proven communication, stakeholder engagement, and interpersonal skills, including an ability to consult and negotiate with others to achieve corporate objectives.
  • A demonstrated ability to manage building infrastructure project compliance in accordance with relevant legislation, standards, policies, practices, and procedures, and provide executive-level reports and advice.
