This is a long-term opportunity (3-5+ years) to join a small, ambitious team with real ownership and purpose.
🧠 What You'll Do
As a core team member, you'll play a critical role in shaping both the technical foundation and product innovation. You'll:
- Build clean, well-architected, and scalable backend systems (and contribute to frontend when needed)
- Ensure high code quality via testing, clean code principles, and CI/CD pipelines
- Apply Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and modern architectural patterns like Event Sourcing and CQRS
- Collaborate closely with product and tech leadership
- Work across the full software lifecycle - from concept to deployment and refinement
- Backend: Ruby (Core), Ruby on Rails (App Layer)
- Frontend: Vue.js, Hotwire
- Database: PostgreSQL
- Architecture: Event Sourcing, CQRS, DDD
- Practices: Clean Code, Static Code Analysis, CI/CD, Mutation Testing
👤 What We're Looking For
You're a developer with 3-5+ years of experience and:
- Strong backend development skills in any OOP language (Ruby, Python, Java, .NET, etc.)
- Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)
- Passion for clean code, architectural best practices, and high-quality software
- Bonus if you're familiar with:
- DDD (Domain-Driven Design)
- Event Sourcing and CQRS
- Insurance industry background
- Willingness to learn Ruby and engage deeply with our architecture and product logic
- Work directly with leadership on impactful technical + strategic decisions
