Python Developer – Dublin (must be Dublin based)

About the Role

We’re looking for a Python Developer to join a dynamic team working on modern AWS-enabled solutions. You’ll help design and develop backend applications that support a key business line using cutting-edge technologies.

Our client's platform is continuously evolving as they integrate new and emerging technologies to support their growing business. The team manages the applications that are central to the client's core business strategy and provides support for a global user base. Due to the dynamic nature of the client's business, high levels of agility are required, demanding that the team maintain technical excellence.

This project is part of the client's global technology modernization roadmap, aimed at equipping one of their key lines of business with the necessary technology to tackle modern market challenges and opportunities. The development focuses on core business applications using a modern AWS toolset, with Python on the backend. Since the project is in its early stages, much of the work involves architecture design, technology selection, and proof-of-concept (POC)

What You’ll Do

• Design and build backend applications primarily in Python, leveraging AWS services.
• Ensure strong test coverage, with a focus on automated testing.
• Implement application observability using AWS monitoring tools.
• Collaborate closely with the development team to define architecture, share best practices, and promote a strong development culture.
• Provide input on technology and methodology decisions to support business goals.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in Python development.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of AWS, especially building serverless backends with secure APIs, parallel computing, messaging, and data-intensive workflows.
• Experience automating AWS deployments across development and production environments.
• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot AWS performance issues.
• Comfortable working with Linux and scripting.
• A passion for automation, testing, and using the right tools to solve problems.
• Solid problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Excellent communication skills.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with Serverless framework development.
• Background in Financial Services or Insurance industries.
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum teams.
