Junior Gameplay Programmer

Your mission

We are Vertigo Games, developers and publishers of top-end VR titles like Metro Awakening, Arizona Sunshine, After the Fall and The 7th Guest. Our Amsterdam studio has started development of our next games, including an adventure into mobile gaming, for which we are looking to recruit a Junior Gameplay Programmer who can aid us in our mission.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of a game feature implementation, working closely with the tech team to make it fit the complete codebase.
• Work closely with designers to identify the technical constraints based on their creative guidance, and create fun and engaging gameplay.
• Use your knowledge of object oriented design, algorithms and data structures to first propose and then implement game features.
• Analyze prototype code and come up with production quality systems that are robust and can stand the test of time in an iterative environment.
• Take performance into account so our games and experiences can keep running at a smooth 60 FPS.
• Analyze problems and debug them in order to quickly locate and fix challenging bugs.
  
  

Your profile

• You have written games in a modern programming language like TypeScript, C# or C++.
• A good understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, algorithms and data structures.
• Technical and creative at the same time.
• Social and collaborative.
• Excited by the potential of mobile games and the metaverse.
• Eligible to work in the EU without a visa.
  
  

Bonus points for

• Experience working on mobile games.
• Experience with a variety of game engines.
• Previous experience with TypeScript or JavaScript.
