About The Role

As the Principal Visual Designer of a new design function at Careem, you’ll shape and lead the visual design practice across all Careem verticals - from ride-hailing and food to fintech, crafting a bold, modern visual identity that adds delight and emotional depth to every customer interaction.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the creation of Careem’s visual language: From typography and iconography to motion and illustration systems.
• Define scalable frameworks that help product teams easily adopt and apply our visual language.
• Partner closely with product, brand, and marketing to ensure a unified, cross-platform visual identity.
• Explore and integrate AI-powered tools and workflows to accelerate design impact.
• Mentor a growing team of senior visual and motion designers.
• Push the craft forward—regularly conduct audits, propose experiments, and evolve the design language to remain fresh and future-ready.
  
  

What You’ll Need

• 7–10 years of experience in visual design, with at least 3 years in a lead or principal role.
• Proven ability to build and scale visual systems across product ecosystems.
• A striking portfolio that shows both finesse in craft and thinking in systems.
• Deep understanding of visual storytelling, motion design, and cross-platform consistency.
• Experience working with or alongside AI tools like Midjourney, Runway, and GPT-based workflows.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-growth environments with distributed teams.
