Job Title : Fintech Head Of Engineering - Mobile Wallet

Salary: 45000 AED/monthly

About the Role

We are looking for a Head of Engineering for one of the biggest Fintech players in Middle East & Africa to lead their end-to-end technology function for their mobile wallet platform. This senior leadership role is responsible for scaling their engineering org, setting the technical direction, and ensuring high availability, security, and performance of their financial systems. You'll work closely with Product, Design, Compliance, and Operations to deliver their users a seamless, secure, and scalable wallet experience.

This role requires someone who can think long-term, inspire engineering teams, and ensure technical execution aligns with business goals.

What You Will Do

Technical & Platform Leadership

Define the engineering vision, architecture, and roadmap for our mobile wallet platform.

Led the development of critical components, including wallet services, KYC flows, transaction processing, ledgering, and integrations with banks or payment providers.

Ensure world-class reliability, scalability, and observability of the platform (99.9%+ uptime).

Drive engineering best practices for secure coding, fault tolerance, and low-latency systems.

People & Team Leadership

Manage and mentor Engineering Managers, Architects, and Senior Engineers across backend, frontend, and mobile teams.

Foster a high-performance engineering culture focused on collaboration, innovation, and delivery.

Build and scale a distributed team of engineers across geographies.

Define career growth paths and support performance development.

Product & Delivery Execution

Partner closely with Product to translate roadmaps into scalable technical execution plans.

Oversee execution of key initiatives such as onboarding/KYC, wallet top-up, bill payments, peer-to-peer transfers, and rewards.

Track org-wide delivery metrics (velocity, stability, bug rate, incident recovery).

Ensure timely delivery of high-quality features through agile planning and iteration.

Security, Compliance & Operations

Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure systems meet regulatory and data privacy requirements.

Ensure the platform is well-instrumented for monitoring, auditing, and incident response.

Champion infrastructure scalability and DevOps maturity for frequent and safe deployments.

Stakeholder Management

Represented engineering in leadership forums and worked cross-functionally with product, growth, finance, and support.

Contribute to company-wide strategic planning, OKRs, and roadmap alignment.

What You Will Need

10+ years of engineering experience with at least 3–5 years in engineering leadership roles.

Proven experience leading engineering for mobile-first platforms, fintech, wallets, or transactional systems.

Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and secure API design.

Familiarity with real-time payment systems, ledgering, KYC, AML, and regulatory requirements.

Strong background in managing cross-functional teams and scaling engineering organizations.

Track record of building reliable, high-scale consumer-facing systems.

Excellent communication and stakeholder alignment skills.

Nice to Have

Experience working in emerging markets or with agent/merchant ecosystems.

Familiarity with compliance-heavy environments (PCI DSS, SOC 2, etc).

Exposure to mobile payment technologies (QR codes, USSD, NFC).

Past experience integrating with telecoms, banks, or PSPs.
