We are looking for a Cyber Security Analyst for a 20-month contract position, with possible extensions in Regina, Saskatchewan. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Position is available on-site location, Monday to Friday. 8am-5pm. This is NOT a remote role. Overtime may be required and on-call on a rotational basis in 1-week intervals will be required.
Role Description
The Cyber Security Analyst will have 1–2 years of experience in cybersecurity or a related IT role, with demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity monitoring, incident handling, and response. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience using vulnerability assessment tools and working with a range of security technologies, including email andweb filtering platforms, endpoint protection solutions, next-generation firewalls, and intrusion prevention systems. Industry-recognized certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA (Security), CEH, or CISSP will be considered beneficial. A strong technical foundation and practical experience in identifying and mitigating security threats are essential.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain security processes and procedures.
- Conduct Threat and Risk Assessments
- Review reported phish emails and identify potential threats
- Develop Security Awareness and Training artifacts
- Monitor security events and alerts from various sources (e.g., SIEM, endpoint protection, firewalls) to detect potential threats.
- Investigate and respond to security incidents, including phishing attempts, malware infections, and unauthorized access.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and assist in remediation efforts.
- Perform threat and risk assessments to evaluate the security posture of systems and applications.
- Support the development and maintenance of cybersecurity processes, procedures, and playbooks.
- Assist in the creation of security awareness materials and training campaigns for end users.
- Apply knowledge of programming or scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell) in support of automation and investigation tasks.
- Participate in the implementation and management of technical security controls across cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS, Office 365).
- Assist with compliance and alignment to security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK).
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve overall cybersecurity posture and reduce risk exposure.
- Document incidents, processes, and technical findings clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences
Required Skills and Experience
- Must have 1-2 years experience in cybersecurity or related IT role.
- Must have cybersecurity monitoring, Incident Handling and response experience.
- Must have hands on experience with vulnerability assessment tools.
- Must have hands on experience with security tools and technologies, such as email and web filtering platforms, endpoint protection technologies, next generation firewalls and intrusion protection systems.
- Must have certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA(Security), CEH, or CISSP.
- Experience preparing and maintaining security processes and procedures.
- Experience conducting Threat and Risk Assessments.
- Review reported phish emails and identify potential threats.
- Develop Security Awareness and Training Artifacts
- Demonstrated experience in security incidents and events monitoring.
- Demonstrated experience in investigating and responding to security alerts and breaches
- Working knowledge and experience in Offensive Security / Programming/ Application
- Development experience (Pen-testing, Vulnerability Assessment, Python, PowerShell, .Net, Java, DevSecOps, KQL).
- Experience in designing, implementing, and operating security technical controls or activities in Cloud Services (Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI, Office 365).
- Knowledge of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 27001/27017/27018 standards, NIST CSF and MITRE ATT&CK Frameworks.
- Relevant job experience in North America
