Kmart are modernising and optimising our end-to-end supply chain systems and operations to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, deliver a safer working environment for our team and faster delivery of products that delight our customers to nearly 500 stores throughout Australia and New Zealand.

We are creating the next generation of retail supply chain technology with be a focus across our warehouse management, transport/logistics, inventory optimisation, and demand and forecasting systems.

As an Engineer you will be instrumental in developing and supporting end-to-end solutions in a cloud environment. You will demonstrate proficiency in multiple programming languages, with a primary focus on Java 17+ Spring Boot Microservices and ensure the implementation of robust testing and security validation practices.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop high-quality software applications using Java Spring Boot and Docker.
  • Implement testing and security validation practices to ensure the integrity of applications.
  • Automate the delivery of cloud infrastructure and applications using tools such as Terraform and Github Actions.
  • Work with AWS and related cloud technologies to optimize deployment and performance.
  • Design and implement solutions using event-driven architecture with Kafka.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team using Agile delivery principles and tools like Jira & Confluence.
  • Utilise CI/CD practices and automation to streamline the development process.
  • Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.


To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • Minimum 3 years of proven proficiency in Java Spring Boot.
  • Proven experience with Docker.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies, preferably AWS.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architecture using Kafka.
  • Hands-on experience with Gradle, GitHub Actions, and Terraform is a plus.
  • Proven experience in Agile environments, utilizing SCRUM and/or KANBAN delivery techniques.
  • Experience working in retail, supply chain, or logistics verticals is an advantage.
