The Project Management Office (PMO) and the Project Manager II position, plays a key role in advancing the organization’s strategic priorities by leading and supporting Information Technology (IT) projects and other corporate initiatives. We are seeking a skilled project management professional to join our team. The successful candidate will bring demonstrated project management experience — ideally in a health care environment — and a commitment to driving meaningful, system-level impact.
Main Responsibilities
Plan and develop all aspects of medium scale projects
- Liaises with the department leadership to obtain project vision and goals, using this input to inform planning, development and implementation process
- Ensures appropriate mechanisms are in place for the optimal delivery of projects, including best practices guidelines and tools for the effective management and execution of projects
- Conducts needs assessment for medium size projects to facilitate defining project plans, deliverables, schedules/timelines to meet identified goals
- Communicates project plan and project expectations clearly and independently to team members and stakeholders, to ensure project goals can be optimally achieved
- Develops and leads the implementation process for medium scale project plans, to ensure the optimal delivery, execution and implementation of project goals, including:
- Establishing/developing and implementing a project communication plan that meets the needs of established project
- Creating an action plan for to facilitate project implementation, utilizing best practices guidelines and appropriate tools
- Playing a lead role in coordinating activities and managing deliverables to ensure project meets established goals while ensuring compliance with corporate goals and practices
- Oversee deliverables, ensuring associated project activities are well coordinated and organized
- Tracking and monitoring of project activities, identifying/resolving issues and concerns that may hamper project activities, utilizing information to develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, predictions, etc.
- Participates actively and/or fully in the identification and selection of appropriate project resources
- Directs, motivates and supports project staff to ensure accountabilities and performance goals are met
- Delegates responsibilities and work assignments for project staff while implementing strategies that will foster a productive work environment
- Builds a team environment and a culture built on mutual respect and trust to facilitate a productive work environment
- Provides knowledge transfer for the project team where appropriate, to facilitate the optimal and timely completion of projects while ensuring collaboration and coordination
- Initiates and oversees the development, drafting and execution of medium scale project protocol/strategies, to capture and present moderately complex information
- Maintains documentation and communication to ensure stakeholders are informed including:
- Organizing and chairing medium scale meetings, as required to provide updates on project status
- Organizing, chairing and/or meeting directly with the Project Director and other relevant parties to collect relevant information and gain a better understanding of project requirement
- Fosters a culture of continuous quality improvement for all activities, while supporting a culture of learning and continuous quality improvement
- Collaborates with relevant parties in the development of evidence based measurement and metrics to benchmark performance against industry standards and peer organizations
- Monitors performance indicators and provide strategies to correct variances as needed
- Completion of a recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology or recognized equivalent required
- Three to Five years project management experience in a health care environment required
- Project Management Project (PMP) certification required
- Demonstrated experience in facilitation, collaboration and negotiation with multiple stakeholders/service providers required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate information and ideas, in a manner that is easily understood by others
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal and listening skills with the ability to effectively interact with staff all levels
- Excellent computer skills e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Effective p roblem recognition and problem solving skills required; with the ability to deal with situations where information is difficult to obtain, complex or ambiguous
- Detail oriented with excellent analytical skills related to proposal development and project management required
- Ability to effectively analyze complex problems, interpret operational/clinical needs and develop integrated, creative solutions required
- A bility to multi-task while producing high quality work
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively as a team player
- Ability to utilize a high level of initiative and self-direction
- Ability to manage multiple and often complex projects simultaneously
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and motivate project staff and others to achieve a common goal
