For a leading company in the energy sector, we are looking for a Data Scientist who will focus on developing and implementing advanced methods to monitor implicit responses to surplus/shortage pricing.
Job Description
- Develop tracking mechanisms to understand and predict the dynamics of implicit flexibility in energy consumption.
- Apply data analysis, machine learning, and other quantitative techniques to large datasets to uncover patterns in energy usage.
- Map available flexibility through desktop research, interviews, data analyses, and estimation methods.
- Analyze relationships between renewable energy forecasts, pricing information, market behavior, and system imbalances.
- Integrate various data sources to create a comprehensive overview of installed, available, and effectively activated flexibility within the system.
- Connect applications with different internal departments and disseminate the results throughout the organization.
- Contribute to other data science projects within the team related to implicit flexibility, depending on needs.
Profile
- Strong quantitative skills with at least 3 years of experience as a Data Scientist and a minimum of 5 years of experience with Python.
- Analytical mindset and the ability to translate complex processes into quantitative analyses or approaches.
- Experience with statistical methods and machine learning for large dataset analysis.
- Knowledge of the energy sector and an understanding of how the electricity market works; experience in the sector is an advantage.
- Ability to independently organize both operational and conceptual tasks and set priorities.
- Quick learner, proactive, positive attitude, with strong attention to detail while maintaining an overview.
- Capability to actively drive projects toward concrete implementation.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written; knowledge of Dutch and/or French is a plus.
- Team player with a results-oriented mindset, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities.
