The Role:
The Network Architect is tasked with designing and evolving the organisation's network infrastructure to support seamless operations across 135+ retail sites. This strategic role focuses on ensuring a robust, secure, and scalable network that meets current operational needs while enabling future innovation.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing hybrid cloud solutions, optimising wireless connectivity, and ensuring seamless integration of on-premises and cloud systems. The Network Architect also drives network security enhancements and continuous performance optimisation to align with enterprise goals and retail industry demands.
This position plays a vital role in delivering a resilient and innovative network foundation that supports operational efficiency, business growth, and a competitive edge in the retail sector.
Primary Responsibilities:
Network Design and Architecture
- Develop high-level network plans and detailed designs tailored to meet client needs and objectives.
- Design scalable, multi-site network configurations, leveraging Cisco Nexus switches to ensure flexibility and future growth.
Implementation and Integration
- Oversee the deployment and integration of Cisco networking solutions, ensuring the design is effectively implemented and challenges are addressed proactively.
- Ensure seamless configuration and management of Cisco SDWAN cloud controllers, focusing on smooth integration with existing network architecture (DNA).
Cloud and On-Premises Networking
- Provide strategic input on designing datacentre networking solutions for hybrid environments, combining Azure cloud and on-premises systems.
- Design solutions that ensure seamless integration between cloud and on-premises networks, aligning with enterprise-level standards.
Wireless and Security
- Design and manage wireless network solutions using Cisco controllers in N+1 configurations to enhance reliability and coverage.
- Incorporate robust security measures in network design, including Cisco enterprise firewalls and Access Control Lists (ACLs), to protect network infrastructure.
Monitoring and Optimisation
- Design network monitoring strategies using tools like SolarWinds and Cisco ACI to ensure continuous performance tracking.
- Proactively address performance and security issues through strategic design adjustments and ongoing optimisation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 10+ years' experience in networking including data centres with a focus on Cisco solutions.
- Hands-on experience with multi-site configurations using Cisco Nexus switches.
- Demonstrable expertise in designing and implementing enterprise-grade networking solutions.
- Cisco Certified with relevant accreditations
- Proficiency in drafting high-level and low-level network designs.
- Deep understanding of Cisco SDWAN, DNA, and wireless solutions in resilient configurations.
- Strong experience with enterprise network security, including firewalls and ACLs.
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with Cisco Nexus data centre architectures including ACI.
- Experience using monitoring tools such as SolarWinds.
