VFX Artist

Scopely
Spain · Full-time · Entry

Scopely is seeking a VFX Artist to join the Yahtzee team in Barcelona on a hybrid schedule, working three days a week from our hub.

At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and want to inspire play, every day - whether in our work environments alongside our talented colleagues, or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers who are developing, publishing and innovating the mobile games industry, connecting millions of people around the world daily.

Yahtzee with buddies is one of our casual free-to-play mobile games and is a classic board game with a new look. The team is based in Europe and the US, and works every day to create captivating new experiences for our players.

What You Will Do

In this role, you’ll create dynamic and engaging visual effects—from celebratory animations and power-ups to micro-interactions and transitions—that elevate the game’s visual appeal and player experience. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional pods, UI/UX, and the broader Art team, and report directly to our in-house VFX Lead.

  • Design effects that enhance gameplay, LiveOps content, UI animations, and player feedback.
  • Bring fresh creative ideas while maintaining consistency with the game’s visual identity.
  • Deliver high-quality assets on time to support production timelines.
  • Work collaboratively with artists and engineers to ensure seamless integration.
  • Document specifications for special effects and contribute to the ongoing review of in-game visuals.
  • Optimize effects for mobile platforms with performance and memory efficiency in mind.

What We’re Looking For

  • A background in Design, Fine Arts, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience, with a portfolio showcasing real-time visual effects.
  • Experience contributing to live game projects and a clear understanding of pipelines, scope, and dependencies.
  • Ability to merge artistic creativity with technical limitations to deliver performant assets.
  • Comfort with collaborative, feedback-rich environments and iteration.
  • Self-driven, organized, and detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Familiarity with Unity’s VFX tools and ability to troubleshoot basic issues.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, team-first mindset.
  • Ability to create visuals that meet technical requirements across a range of devices
