About The Role

As a Senior Fintech Engineer in the Invoicing team, you’ll be key to our mission: enabling scalable, flexible, and automated finance solutions that directly fuel Forto’s ambitious growth. Your work will elevate our financial processes, sharpen invoicing quality, and deliver more value to customers through localization and flexibility. Ultimately, you’ll equip our Financial Operations team with the precise tools they need to track financial insights for every single shipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust, scalable financial systems that automate and optimize Forto’s invoicing processes, from initial capture to final settlement.
• Enhance and maintain the core invoicing platform to improve data accuracy, reduce operational overhead, and ensure high-quality financial records.
• Develop and integrate solutions for matching incoming partner invoices with specific shipments and customer billing, streamlining complex financial workflows.
• Build and evolve features supporting multi-entity invoicing and intercompany charging, ensuring compliance and efficiency across our global operations.
• Collaborate closely with financial operations, product, and other engineering teams to translate complex financial requirements into clear technical specifications and deliver high-impact solutions.
• Provide tooling and data insights to enable the Financial Operations team to accurately track and analyze shipment profitability.
• Drive architectural decisions and contribute to the overall technical strategy of the Fintech domain, ensuring our solutions are flexible and future-proof.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence, code quality, and continuous improvement within the team.
  
  

Required Skills And Experience

• Strong foundation in Computer Science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and system design, especially relevant to financial data processing.
• Proven experience building and maintaining large-scale, high-transactional backend systems, ideally within a fintech or financial services context.
• Expertise in designing and implementing robust APIs and microservices, with a deep understanding of distributed system challenges like eventual consistency and fault tolerance.
• Hands-on experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and optimizing complex queries for financial reporting.
• Proficiency in at least one modern backend language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, Node.js/TypeScript) and familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience with event-driven architectures and message queuing systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• A product-oriented mindset with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent English communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  
  

Preferred Skills And Experience

• Familiarity with accounting principles and financial concepts related to invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, and intercompany transactions is a plus.
