Job Summary
We are looking for a Delivery Manager with strong Telecom (Telco) experience and proven success in managing and delivering projects related to Network Functions (NFV, SDN, 5G Core, OSS/BSS, Cloud-Native Network Functions, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Delivery Ownership
- Own end-to-end delivery of Telecom and Network Functions projects, ensuring alignment to business goals and technical specifications.
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams delivering solutions in NFV, SDN, 5G, and Cloud-native Network Functions.
- Apply Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) to drive delivery excellence.
- Manage detailed project plans, milestones, dependencies, and scope changes.
- Lead estimation efforts using story points or alternative sizing techniques, specifically for Telco network-related projects.
- Conduct regular Scrum-of-Scrum meetings, monitor progress, and proactively resolve impediments.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Solution Architects, and Telecom SMEs to deliver best-in-class network solutions.
- Manage risks, issues, and dependencies, especially in complex multi-vendor Telco environments.
- Act as primary escalation point for internal teams and customer stakeholders.
Stakeholder Management & Governance
- Build strong relationships with client stakeholders in Telecom Operations, Network Engineering, and IT teams.
- Define and execute stakeholder communication plans across internal/external teams.
- Conduct governance forums (weekly, monthly, quarterly) with full transparency on delivery status, risks, and financial health.
- Collaborate closely with cross-practice teams to align technical roadmaps with delivery milestones.
- Engage with third-party vendors, network equipment providers, and cloud platform partners to resolve integration issues.
Team Setup & People Management
- Drive team onboarding, knowledge transfer, and ramp-up plans for Telecom projects.
- Manage staffing needs, interview candidates, and coordinate hiring for specialized Telco roles (e.g., NFV engineers, OSS/BSS experts, Cloud-native Network engineers).
- Conduct performance evaluations, identify skill gaps, and recommend relevant Telco-focused trainings.
- Foster team collaboration, resolve conflicts, and promote a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Track project financials, including revenue, resource utilization, and billing.
- Identify financial optimization opportunities while ensuring high-quality delivery.
- Collaborate with Engagement Leadership on contract negotiations, change requests, and commercial discussions.
Continuous Improvement & Delivery Maturity
- Conduct post-project reviews to identify process improvements.
- Implement delivery best practices, including learnings from Telco network transformation engagements.
- Actively contribute to Material’s repository of tools, frameworks, and accelerators.
Support Business Growth
- Participate in pre-sales, solutioning, and proposal development for Telco clients.
- Contribute to creating SoWs, RFP responses, and change order documentation.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 5 - 10 years of experience in software and telecom industry, with at least 3 years in Telco domain.
- Proven track record delivering projects in Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), SDN, 5G, OSS/BSS, or Cloud-Native Network Functions.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Agilist, or equivalent Agile certification.
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle, Agile delivery, and Telco-grade deployment models.
- Hands-on experience with ALM tools (JIRA, ADO, Rally, etc.).
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience managing multi-geo, offshore delivery models for global Telco customers.
- Sound understanding of commercial management, including resource planning, budgeting, and P&L ownership.
- Ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities in a dynamic Telco environment.
- Experience collaborating with OEM vendors, network equipment providers, and Telco cloud partners.
- Strong problem-solving and risk mitigation abilities.
