About The Role

Meritus is seeking a highly skilled Fullstack Software Developer to join a prominent defense project on a 12-month contract basis. The successful candidate will work within a specialized Environment Simulator Group, which develops real-time simulation environments to test and validate subsystem operations. This role requires a sole British national with live SC clearance, as it involves working on sensitive defense systems. The position is fully onsite in Stevenage, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to critical defense projects using advanced technologies.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining web-based user interfaces, microservices, and supporting documentation. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and mentoring junior developers will also be integral to this role. The position offers a chance to work on complex, distributed systems utilizing containerization and modern development practices, making it suitable for candidates eager to apply their technical expertise in a challenging and rewarding environment.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess a strong background in software development with specific experience in the following areas:

• Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Typescript, HTML, CSS, and C#
• Experience with frameworks and libraries including Svelte, Angular, Vue.js, React, and .NET 7/8
• Familiarity with development tools and technologies like Visual Studio, Jira, GitLab, Node.js, npm CI, Docker, Kubernetes, and Artifactory
• Experience working on complex, distributed systems with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• A solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including object-oriented programming, data structures, design patterns, and algorithms
• Experience in agile development environments and modern software testing practices such as TDD and CI/CD pipelines
• Ability to design user-friendly interfaces and solve complex technical problems
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with senior stakeholders
• Experience mentoring junior team members
  
  

Desirable qualifications include experience with C++ programming and Linux system administration or DevOps deployment practices.

Responsibilities

• Continuously developing and enhancing Web UI components to improve user experience and functionality
• Maintaining and testing .NET microservices to ensure system stability and performance
• Creating comprehensive technical documentation to support ongoing development and maintenance activities
• Collaborating with team members to integrate various system components and troubleshoot issues
• Participating in agile ceremonies, planning, and sprint reviews to ensure timely delivery of features
• Implementing containerization solutions and managing deployment pipelines to facilitate continuous integration and delivery
• Mentoring junior developers and sharing best practices to foster a collaborative team environment
