Platform Engineer (completely full remote from Italy)

to join the Engineering division of our client, within the IT Infrastructure Design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing & developing a cloud service management & delivery platform using K8S & custom operators written in GO. This role requires a strong background in cloud-native technologies, software development & infrastructure automation

Key Responsibilities

• Design & implement scalable, resilient & secure cloud service platforms using K8S & GO
• Develop & maintain K8S Operators to automate the lifecycle of cloud-native services
• Build integration drivers for external APIs to enable seamless interoperability across systems
• Contribute to the development of common APIs for internal cloud platforms, following an API-first approach
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements & translate them into technical solutions
• Produce high-quality technical documentation & architectural designs
• Stay current with emerging technologies & industry trends, particularly in the areas of cloud computing, DevOps & microservices

Requirements

• Proven experience in software development with GO (Golang)
• Deep understanding & hands-on experience with K8S, including custom operator development
• Strong knowledge of cloud computing principles & architectures (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
• Familiarity with API-first design & RESTful API development
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs & building automation tools
• Solid understanding of DevOps principles & CI/CD practices
• Ability to produce clear & comprehensive technical documentation

Nice-to-have

• Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source projects
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies & collaborative development environments
• Hands-on experience with IaC tools (Terraform or Ansible)
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
