R&D Product Manager – Automotive Water-Based Paints

A leading industrial coatings company is seeking an experienced R&D Product Manager specialized in automotive water-based paints to join its growing team in Sharjah, UAE. This role is ideal for a coatings expert who thrives at the intersection of product innovation, technical development, and commercialization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the formulation, development, and enhancement of automotive water-based coatings (primers, basecoats, clearcoats).
• Oversee full product lifecycle from concept to post-launch optimization.
• Ensure compliance with VOC, REACH, GHS, and OEM performance standards.
• Collaborate with technical service, production, sales, and marketing teams to define and deliver product specs.
• Conduct lab trials, durability/performance testing, and field evaluations.
• Evaluate and qualify raw materials with procurement and suppliers.
• Monitor KPIs related to cost, quality, performance, and speed-to-market.
• Maintain all technical documentation and regulatory data sheets.
• Support sustainability initiatives in eco-friendly product development.
• Provide technical assistance during field trials and customer troubleshooting.

What We are Looking For:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• 7–10 years’ experience in R&D within the automotive coatings industry, ideally in water-based systems.
• Strong knowledge of OEM and refinish standards, testing protocols, and raw material sourcing.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
