Junior Data Scientist

Job Description

The Junior Data Scientist plays a critical role in delivering advanced analytical solutions and insights that drive key business decisions. This role involves applying data modelling, machine learning algorithms, and statistical analyses to large datasets, extracting meaningful insights to support the organisation's strategic initiatives. The Junior Data Scientist collaborates with cross-functional teams, leveraging technical expertise to develop models, create data-driven processes, and optimise outcomes. They can deliver small to medium-sized projects with supervision.

This role reports directly into the Principal Manager Data Product.

You will…

• Develop and apply data science solutions to address business challenges, aligning analytical strategies with company objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data science into decision-making processes across the organisation, ensuring seamless collaboration between data science and other departments.
• Assist in the development and refinement of predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and other data products, focusing on technical excellence and business relevance.
• Maintain compliance with ethical standards, privacy regulations, and relevant laws, ensuring that data science practices adhere to company policies and external requirements.
• Establish and uphold data quality measures to guarantee the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of data inputs and outputs.
• Communicate technical insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Influence and support data-driven decision-making by providing deep insights from data analysis and ensuring that findings are aligned with strategic business goals.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, AI, and related fields, and proactively bring innovative methodologies and technologies into the organisation.
• Encourage and contribute to the adoption of cutting-edge tools and techniques within the data science team and the wider organisation.
• Monitor and assess the performance of deployed models and data-driven initiatives.
• Contribute to the development of data science OKRs by providing input on achievable and impactful objectives, while focusing on delivering measurable results.
• Present findings and recommendations in a manner that influences business strategy and operational efficiency.
  
  

You have/are…

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (computer science, engineering, statistics etc)
• Intermediate SQL and Intermediate Python (coding languages)
• Intermediate level of Excel/Google Sheets (spreadsheet program)
• Intermediate Statistics (technical knowledge)
• Knowledge of code and model management practices
