Software Engineer (Intern)

QuantumDiamonds
Germany · Internship · Entry

Description

We are looking for a motivated Software Engineering Intern to join our fast-growing software team in a full-time capacity for 6 months. In this role, you will support the development, and refinement of our user interface, that interacts with various quantum sensing hardware components — such as sensors, laser controllers, and translation stages. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience working closely with cutting-edge software in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Who We Are

Founded in 2022 as a spin-off of TU Munich, QD leverages quantum sensors to rapidly capture three-dimensional current maps within multi-layer chips. Our 30-strong team of physicists, engineers, and data scientists works side by side with major semiconductor manufacturers, helping them in chip debugging and accelerating their yield analysis. Backed by top-tier deep tech investors, semiconductor experts, and strategic public programs, we have ensured long-term stability, shifting from breakthrough to scale - and shaping the next chapter in chip testing.

Why join Quantum Diamonds?

  • You'll get to build a company together with a super smart and welcoming team
  • Our technology is the cutting edge of tomorrow, starting today and not in 10 years
  • You'll get to make an incredible impact straight away
  • You'll get the challenges and responsibility to catapult your career

What Will You Do

  • Collaborate closely with team members and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into robust, flexible solutions.
  • Troubleshoot, refine, and optimize existing software functionality to improve user experience and reliability.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing infrastructure and documentation.

What Is Expected Of You

  • Ability to work full-time on-site in our Munich lab for 6 months.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Computer, Software, or related field).
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with Qt for GUI development.
  • Basic knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) for collaborative code management.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments, including command-line tools and shell scripting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.

We recognize that no single candidate may have all of these skills. If you have a strong subset and the enthusiasm to learn the rest, we encourage you to apply.
