Firewall Engineer - Palo Alto, VPN, Security, Infrastructure - Remote, Eastern Europe

A large global organisation is looking for a Firewall Engineer with a proven track record in managing and implementing enterprise-level network security solutions using Palo Alto Networks technologies.

This will be a contract opportunity starting with a 6-12 month term, with the potential for multiple extensions.

This position will be based in Eastern Europe on a 100% remote basis.

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Proven experience configuring and managing Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including setting up security policies, NAT, and VPNs.
• Solid understanding of threat prevention, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other Palo Alto security services.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving complex firewall and network security issues.
• Expertise in network monitoring, log analysis, and reporting using Palo Alto Networks tools.
• Experience integrating Palo Alto solutions with broader IT infrastructure and third-party systems.
• Hands-on experience managing network security incidents and participating in incident response activities.
• Knowledge in developing and maintaining firewall rulesets, policies, and security documentation.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with IT and security teams.
• Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) certification is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Configure, deploy, and manage Palo Alto Networks firewalls and security appliances.
• Design and implement security measures in line with enterprise security architecture.
• Monitor network traffic and alerts to identify and mitigate threats in real time.
• Investigate and resolve firewall-related incidents, performance issues, and misconfigurations.
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless integration of firewalls with existing systems.
• Document firewall configurations, changes, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Participate in the development of network security policies and best practices.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives in secure network design and operation.
