Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities: The Computer Systems Security Specialist Jr. analyzes and defines security requirements for Multilevel Security (MLS) issues. This position also requires performing the following tasks:
- Designs, develops engineers and implements solutions to MLS requirements. Responsible for the implementation and development of the MLS.
- Gathers and organizes technical information about an organization’s mission goals and needs, existing security products and ongoing programs in the MLS arena.
- Performs risk analyses, which also include risk assessment.
- Provides Daily supervision and direction to staff.
Education and Years of Experience: This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, information systems, engineering, business or other related scientific or technical discipline (Note: A Masters’s degree is preferred).
General Experience: The proposed candidate must have at least six (6) years of experience in analysis and definition of security requirements, and at least four (4) years of IT experience in data security.
Specialized Experience: The proposed candidate must have at least four (4) years of specialized experience in defining computer security requirements for high-level applications, evaluating approved security product capabilities, and developing solutions to MLS problems.
Additional duties and experience required:
- Strong demonstrated experience with Palo Alto and Cisco ASA / FTD firewalls: design, configuration, implementation and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated experience with network security design and best-practice implementation.
- Experience with IDS/IPS such as Palo Alto Threat Protection, Wildfire and Albert Sensors (Intrusion Detection Systems / Intrusion Prevention Systems)
- Experience with Firepower Management Center / Panorama monitoring and analysis for firewall troubleshooting and configuration
- Demonstrated experience with vulnerability assessment, using tools such as Nexpose
- Experience configuring and maintaining VPN tunnels using Cisco ASA / FTD
- Experience using Azure Sentinel or other similar SIEM log monitoring tools
- Experience configuring and monitoring with ForeScout CounterAct for Network Access Control
- Experience with Incident response, leveraging the above tools for initial triage of incidents
- Palo Alto Firewall
- Cisco ASA – firewall / VPN
- Cisco FTD – NGFW
- Azure Sentinel – enterprise SIEM tools
- Nexpose - used for vulnerability assessment/reporting
- CounterAct - Network Access Control (NAC)
- Entrust – two-factor authentication
- Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager (CPPM) – wireless security

Physical Requirements: No Physical requirement needed for this position.
Location: Remote ; occasional onsite as required
Travel: Please anticipate occasional travel to customer sites within the State of Maryland – meetings, design reviews, hands-on troubleshooting, equipment installation, and hardware lifecycle refresh.
