Job Summary (Sr. Network Specialist – NYC, New York)

  • Assist OTI with implementation of network technologies for key IT projects
  • Responsible for network architecture design, planning, and implementation of changes
  • Deploy and configure network equipment at multiple NYC locations for remote access
  • Perform onsite migration of network links from legacy devices to new equipment
  • Coordinate technical activities and notifications with NYC Mayoral agencies (using ServiceNow)
  • Upgrade network equipment operating systems and implement MPLS configurations
  • Maintain and update asset management records in ServiceNow for network devices
  • Decommission old equipment, remove obsolete configurations, and update documentation/diagrams
  • Create and complete Cisco router/switch configuration templates for new and legacy devices
  • Conduct SNMP, syslog, NTP, and NetFlow testing for monitoring and management
  • Attend project meetings, follow up on tasks, and support VoIP/QoS/network configuration activities as needed
  • Work with cross-functional teams and communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Review project design and system documentation, including network architectural diagrams (MS Visio)
  • Provide expertise in BGP, MPLS, OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS, and Cisco NCS routers in large-scale environments
  • Deliver high-quality, customer-focused solutions with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with City of New York network infrastructure and standards preferred

Mandatory Experience

  • 12+ years of professional networking experience
  • Hands-on expertise with BGP, MPLS, OSPF routing protocols in large environments

Desirable Experience

  • Cisco network installation and deployment (ring configurations, dark fiber)
  • Experience with Cisco NCS routers, IOS-XR, and network management protocols
  • Experience with enterprise QoS design, documentation, and network migrations
  • Strong documentation skills and proficiency with MS Visio
