Head of Data

We are looking for a Head of Data for a permanent, full-time position in our Data & AI capabilities unit. The unit supports all Veikkaus' units in the business data development, data governance and BI utilization as well as building related capabilities for whole Veikkaus group.

AI and data-driven management are at the heart of Veikkaus' operations both in Finland and in our international business – our goal is to be the world's most data-driven company in the industry by the end of 2027, and we are making rapid progress towards it. We have Finland's largest online store and a huge amount of data from one of Finland's largest customer bases.

As Head of Data, you will lead the development and execution of our data strategy, ensuring it aligns with current and future business needs. You will define a clear roadmap with measurable milestones and ensure the organization has the capabilities to deliver on them. This role combines hands-on responsibilities with people leadership, managing a team of 8 direct reports. You will report to the Vice President, Data & AI Capabilities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Plan and execute the data governance roadmap by identifying areas where it can be applied, setting goals for data governance and other development initiatives, and ensuring that the initiatives are aligned with the organization's overall business goals.
• Lead data development and central BI services in Veikkaus Group ensuring the results and efficiency goals are achieved. There are several projects and initiatives running at the same time with different speed and status and you will be responsible for the overall roadmap.
• Lead and inspire the team consisting of data professionals. Develop and coach the team and its members with your leadership and management skills.
• Collaborating with stakeholders from businesses, tech and group to ensure that they are integrating data governance and effective BI usage into their processes, and to the other DA teams to build the required capabilities to fill the current and future business needs.

It would be great to hear from you if you have:

• Several years’ experience at least in part of the following: data governance, data management, BI & reporting, data-driven business development
• Experience on leading and coaching data professionals. Alongside your passion for data and analytics, you are committed to people— empowering your team and contributing that to Veikkaus’ success.
• Ability to open and sell the benefits of data governance and consistent data utilization to various business stakeholders, and to also identify potential business use cases with them.
• Systematic, analytical and proactive ways of working with a positive can-do attitude
• Strong technical and content understanding of data, as well as reporting and analytics that utilize it
• Excellent communication and networking skills
• Excellent oral and written proficiency in English

These are considered an advantage:

• Understanding of gambling (lottery, sports betting, icasino) or related relevant experience from other industries

This position is located in Finland. We have modern and agile remote working methods in use and flexible on-site working spaces at the office in Pohjois-Haaga.
