Role Overview: Your Day-to-Day

As a Hardware Product Manager, you will take end-to-end ownership of our home security hardware portfolio. As the company continues to grow, we aim to expand our hardware offering, particularly in the premium segment of video and smart home devices. In this critical new role, you will be responsible for driving our hardware product strategy, managing vendor relationships, conducting competitive analysis and ensuring successful go-to-market execution to help shape the future of Sector Alarm’s hardware offerings.

Additionally, you will collaborate closely with senior members of Sector Alarm’s tech team to coordinate technical initiatives. You will report to the Head of Consumer-facing products and UX.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware Strategy

  • Identify hardware needs in alignment with consumer and business goals
  • Revamp and develop our premium hardware offering (currently mainly related to video cameras and smart locks) including deciding on vendors, components and 3rd party integration strategies
  • Stay informed of relevant developments in the vendor ecosystem, identify any potential ones to partner with, conduct competitive analysis and decide the best way to integrate with them
  • Conduct build vs. buy analysis on hardware and make strategic recommendations
  • Define user stories related to hardware components and translate them into technical requirements both for how the device behaves (embedded logic) and how it integrates with the cloud and in-app experience


Go-To-Market (GTM)

  • Own business case development for new hardware initiatives
  • Prepare best-practices material and ensure app readiness in collaboration with software teams
  • Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders to ensure seamless product launches


Vendor Management

  • Lead test and integration efforts with third-party hardware providers and internal teams
  • Manage stock levels in collaboration with operations and logistics
  • Drive price negotiations to ensure optimal hardware margins in collaboration with the procurement director
  • Align external vendor roadmaps with internal product strategy


Hardware Strategy

  • Identify hardware needs in alignment with consumer and business goals
  • Identify any potential new vendors to partner with and conduct competitive analysis
  • Conduct build vs. buy analysis and make strategic recommendations
  • Select and manage partnerships with the best-fit hardware vendors


Project management

  • Act as the glue across various Tech and Commercial teams to ensure flawless execution


What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in product management or a related role
  • Technical fluency to work closely with engineering and test teams
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business, or a related field
  • Experience with hardware product management
  • Deep understanding of hardware lifecycle, from concept through production and sunset
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, supply chain, UX, marketing, and external partners
  • English fluency
  • Valid work permit within the EU


Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience launching successful hardware products with the IoT, home security or smart home space
  • Background in a tech-driven or product-led company
  • MBA or equivalent
