Job Description

As a Data Scientist Trainee, you'll be immersed in solving real-world demanding situations through data exploration, modeling, and innovation. This internship opportunity is designed to sharpen your problem-solving instincts while guiding you through a journey of mentorship, hands-on experience, and collaborative learning within Nokia’s forward-looking environment.

Position: Internship

Duration: 12 months

Start Date (Tentative): September, 2025

Location: Hybrid in Amadora, Portugal

Education Recommendations: Currently a candidate finishing their BSc or MSc degree in Data Engineering, Math, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field with an accredited school

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

  • Assist with data collection, cleaning, and preprocessing to prepare robust datasets for analysis
  • Support development of machine learning models and predictive algorithms
  • Participate in data visualization and storytelling to uncover insights that inform strategy
  • Collaborate with senior data scientists to help build scalable analytical solutions
  • Engage in exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies
  • Help develop performance metrics to evaluate model accuracy and reliability
  • Document findings and contribute to technical reports and presentations
  • Stay current with industry trends and data science tools to support innovation

Key Skills And Experience

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or currently pursuing) in a quantitative field — Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, etc.
  • Passion for problem-solving and data exploration
  • Familiarity with programming languages like Python, PySpark or SQL
  • Understanding of basic statistics and data structures

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Knowledge of machine learning foundation and popular libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow)
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Strong communication and curiosity to learn from experienced mentors
