System Administrator

Description

Our client, a licensed e-money institution regulated by the Bank of Lithuania, operates from Vilnius and offers services such as payment card issuing, e-commerce acquiring, and payment processing. They ensure full compliance with regulatory standards, payment scheme rules, and fraud prevention practices, supported by strong settlement and reporting tools.

As an innovative fintech company, they leverage open-source technologies to build secure, flexible, and cost-effective IT systems. To support their growing operations, they are currently looking for an IT System Administrator to maintain and enhance their IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen Network Security: Configure and monitor firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion prevention systems to protect internal networks and ensure stable connectivity;
• Manage and Secure Databases: Oversee SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring data integrity, performance, and availability, while implementing robust backup and recovery processes;
• Maintain and Optimize IT Infrastructure: Manage and enhance Linux-based systems to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance across the organization;
• Champion Open-Source Solutions: Identify, implement, and maintain self-hosted open-source tools to boost efficiency and reduce dependency on proprietary platforms;
• Automate Routine Processes: Use scripting and automation tools to streamline administrative tasks, improve scalability, and minimize manual interventions;
• Monitor and Troubleshoot Systems: Deploy and manage monitoring solutions to proactively detect and address system performance or security issues;
• Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Align IT practices with relevant standards such as PCI-DSS, GDPR, and DORA, maintaining proper documentation and adhering to security protocols;
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with security, development, and business units to ensure IT infrastructure supports operational goals and organizational growth.

Requirements

• Linux & Infrastructure Management: 3+ years of experience administering Debian- and RPM-based systems in production, with a focus on reliability, performance, and high availability;
• Open-Source & Automation Expertise: Proven ability to deploy and maintain open-source, self-hosted solutions; skilled in automation and scripting using tools like Ansible, Terraform, Bash, or Python;
• Networking, Security & Compliance: Strong understanding of network configuration, firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention, and compliance standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR); experience applying IT security best practices and managing access controls;
• Database & Virtualization Skills: Hands-on experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), backup strategies, and performance tuning; familiarity with virtualization and container technologies such as Proxmox VE, KVM, and Docker;
• Monitoring & Optimization: Experience using tools like Zabbix, Prometheus, and Grafana to monitor infrastructure and optimize system performance;
• Fintech/Financial Environment (Preferred): Prior experience managing on-premises infrastructure in a financial or fintech setting is a strong advantage.
