About the Opportunity

Frontend Engineer (UI/UX Focus) – Mobile Consumer Technology

Our client is a well-funded, founder-led AI start-up set to scale their consumer platform across several high-growth markets. Our team brings together deep product, engineering and design expertise, unified by a culture of experimentation, rapid iteration, and creative curiosity.

As a Frontend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building and optimising mobile-first, viral consumer web products, while also collaborating on iOS mobile app development. Working alongside experts in backend, design and data, you will help empower hundreds of thousands to engage with new AI tools, transforming passive audiences into active creators.

Key Impact Areas

• Rapidly prototype, test and deploy user acquisition experiments tailored to various demographics and channels.
• Engineer compelling, intuitive and high-performing mobile web and iOS app experiences to drive organic sharing, engagement and growth.
• Use modern component-first CSS (Tailwind, Radix, Shadcn) and AI-powered development tools to build and iterate quickly.
• Implement analytics, A/B testing, and data-driven UX optimisations to improve conversion and engagement rates.
• Work closely with product managers, backend developers and designers in a collaborative culture that values creativity, learning and tangible user impact.
• Collaborate on iOS mobile app features and performance, ensuring seamless integration, optimal user experience and the latest mobile standards for iOS devices.

What we’re Looking For

• 4–7 years’ experience building frontend consumer web applications or SaaS products, with a strong focus on UI/UX, conversion and performance.
• Significant, hands-on React expertise (component architecture, modern patterns, complex interactive user interfaces).
• Advanced proficiency with component-first CSS frameworks and proven experience designing directly in code.
• Proven track record of designing and delivering responsive, mobile-first and highly performant products on both the web and iOS.
• Experience using AI development tools (such as Copilot, Cursor, V0, or similar) to enhance prototyping and production delivery.
• Product intuition for what drives viral growth and user engagement in consumer markets, such as social or entertainment products.
• Portfolio demonstrating pixel-perfect, conversion-optimised interfaces and an ability to deliver and iterate rapidly.
• Experience with iOS mobile application development, including building intuitive user interfaces for iPhone and iPad, is highly regarded.
• Openness to feedback, a preference for collaboration and an eagerness to experiment with new technologies.

Nice to Have

• Experience building and documenting design systems, ideally within codebases.
• Familiarity with Next.js and/or full-stack engineering concepts, plus API integration experience.
• Advanced web and mobile performance optimisation techniques (such as Core Web Vitals and Apple Human Interface Guidelines).
• Experience with analytics/tracking/experimentation frameworks implemented in both web and mobile environments.
• Prior work in gaming or social apps would be highly regarded
