Role Overview

In GXO Europe, the responsibility for successfully delivering new Implementations for our customers rests with our country cluster businesses. We are building Expert capability at European level to support the development and delivery of the most complex projects we might deliver and to develop people, templates, tools and techniques to help our country teams develop and deliver complex projects with the minimum of central involvement.


We are looking for someone with deep expertise in the planning, project management and delivery of complex warehouse implementations and whom is capable of taking that experience to build a framework to enable country teams to develop and grow their own expertise. From time to time, the person in role will take a leadership position on the most complex projects to ensure delivery on time / budget and within customers’ expectations.


This is a key role, mandated to deliver the maturation of GXO’s PMO delivery across Europe in close working partnership with regional leadership team, reporting to the VP of Transformation and PMO, Europe.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • To lead and develop the European wide Implementation and Turnaround projects to deliver successfully on time, within budget and achieving KPI’s. To guide and support the teams responsible for execution, as well as delivering key projects / workstreams.

  • Within the team, co-develop, iterate with stakeholders and deliver a PMO framework to mature and scale GXO’s ability to deliver complex implementations reliably, considering people, capability, tools and templates
  • Make the framework real in-countries and at sites. Bring the framework alive for those who have to work with it and advocate Warehouse Implementation good practice, based on the framework and your own experiences and expertise
  • As required from time to time, lead and deliver with Site teams the high-profile Implementation projects in line with business and customer expectations
  • Support multi-functional in Site teams to ensure successful and seamless new projects through to successful project implementation (on time, within budget & achieving KPI’s)
  • With peers and Regional Leaders and Country Managing Directors, advocate for scalable and common-across-Europe good practices to develop common ways of working to deliver projects for customers as One Team.



To excel in this role, you'll need:

  • 10+ years working as Warehouse Implementation project leader within a 3PL, managing projects to deliver multi-million Euro revenue projects, including those with complex technology elements
  • Hold a recognised Project Management certification (e.g. PMP or Prince2 or equivalent) can exhibit strong project management and operational planning skills with demonstrable experience managing simultaneous projects involving cross-functional teams
  • Flexibility to work anywhere within continental Europe and ideally experience of and comfort with working in different cultures across the continent
  • Capable of speaking a minimum of one continental European language plus English, additional languages an advantage
  • Ability and comfort to take a leadership role or to be part of a high performing team
  • Can do attitude – comfortable working to tight deadlines, under pressure and away from home
  • Able to proactively challenge, motivate, support and mobilise others to achieve an improved performance
  • Self-starter and highly motivated operating remotely to deliver industry leading performance
  • Ability to influence and be assertive at all levels of the business to deliver change
  • Excellent leadership and emotional intelligence to work effectively in a matrix management business
  • Ability to manage complexity and uncertainty
  • Ability to build strong and lasting working relationships with Country teams across Europe (managing multiple stakeholders)
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel 50% - 75% of the time.
