Job Description

  • Position: Trainee, Software Engineering
  • Duration: Flexible / 6 months
  • Location: Espoo, Finland
  • Educational recommendations: Pursuing ongoing studies in a relevant field at a Finnish university

Embark on an exciting journey to develop cutting-edge embedded software for Nokia's 5G base stations. Layer1 is the Physical Layer of networks as defined by the OSI model. This software conforms to hard real-time requirements, and handles critical digital signal processing to ensure fast, reliable, and efficient wireless connections used by millions of end users. Our mission is to provide best-in-class solutions for our telecom and enterprise customers.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

We have several teams in our department, following some aspects of Agile Scrum methodology. The following are examples of some of the areas we can work on together, depending on our current needs as well as your personal skills and interests:

  • Feature implementation (C++)
  • Code optimization
  • Creating and maintaining the platform, DevOps, enabling continuous integration (Docker and Python)
  • Testing (unit, component, and integration) and troubleshooting
  • Internal improvements / refactoring / maintaining good SW practices
  • Interface adaptation

Key Skills And Experience

You have:

  • Proficiency in C++ development
  • A proactive and independent work approach
  • A passion for learning and continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication skills in English

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Knowledge of communications engineering
  • Familiarity with Digital Signal Processing
